This past Friday, Dr. Johnson, Melissa and Christine along with Mr. Tooth (a.k.a. Christopher Dr. Johnson’s husband) made an appearance at St. Gregory’s school for Dental Health Awareness Month. They had the opportunity to spend time with grades pre-school through grade 4. Dr. Johnson has done this for the past 7 years for this school. They taught students good oral hygiene habits and the importance of regularly scheduled dental visits. After answering all their great questions, Mr. Tooth made his entrance. The children had a blast with the 6 foot tall FDC mascot.
For the upper level class, Dr Johnson, did something special and showed the students how fillings are completed. She demonstrated with the kids how to shape and cure fillings and they experienced placing their own fillings on a typodont (fake teeth).
Each child was given a tooth brush and floss. It was a fun learning experience for everyone in attendance.
