Family Dental Care Provides Dental Crowns for Young Adults, Adults, and Elders in Erie, PA

PROVIDING DENTAL CROWNS FOR NEARLY 10 YEARS

When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth break off or need to be removed a crown is often used to restore the tooth. The crown replaces the natural tooth structure that was removed, protecting and providing function again. At Family Dental Care, the majority of crowns that we perform are completed from start to finish in one appointment rather than the regular two appointment crown procedure.

ONE-VISIT CAD/CAM DENTISTRY WITH FAMILY DENTAL CARE

A crown, sometimes referred to as a cap, is a type of restoration which completely covers the remaining natural tooth structure. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth.

Veneers serve an aesthetic purpose and are applied when a discolored or stained or chipped tooth needs to be restored to its natural appearance. The procedure usually requires two appointments. However at Family Dental Care, ceramic crowns and veneers are prepped, designed, custom stained and glazed, and seated in one appointment.

Family Dental Care is dedicated to using CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) dentistry to create a porcelain or resin composite pieces for the defected tooth, all in one visit. We also use the CAD/CAM system for digital impressions to send for Full Gold and Full Zirconia Crowns, which are usually indicated for people who have a strong bite or suffer from clenching and grinding. The first appointment includes removing the decay, shaping the tooth surface, and taking a highly accurate digital impression that is used to create your custom crown. At the second appointment, your new crown will be carefully placed to ensure the spacing and bite is accurate. With our dedicated dental staff, Dr. Johnson, and our love for high-quality technology, we offer a variety of dental services for patients of all ages with the goal of providing them with the extraordinary dental care.

CARING FOR YOUR CROWNS

Guy Flossing
After the crown is seated, you will be given home care instructions and encouraged to have regular six-month dental visits. It is essential to floss in the area of the crown to avoid excess plaque or collection of debris around the restoration just as you would for any other tooth. Specific behaviors such as jaw clenching or teeth grinding will shorten the life of a crown.

Contact Family Dental Care today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Johnson for all of your crown needs.
